Scriani, Amarone and much more

The best year in the last 20 years of Valpolicella Classica”. With these words, Stefano Cottini, the owner of Scriani, describes this memorable year. And it’s not the same old story of “extraordinary” years. 2016 – a terrible year for Champagne e Rioja due to hail and drought – has blessed the vineyards of Italy. “We could no task for more. Sun and rain have interchanged in the right way, offering us an excellent quality and a con- siderable quantity. September and October have made the difference: the climatic conditions have let to preserve the freshness of the early white grapes and it has allowed us to leave the red grapes on the vine until their perfect ripening. As Stefano says, “If Valpolicella is representative of the average quality of the wines of this year, we can only celebrate!”. In the meantime, Scriani has many reasons to be happy: Gabmero Rosso has appointed four stars to Lugana Doc 2015 and Recioto della Valpolicella Docg Classico “Maddalena” 2012, and three stars to Amarone della Valpolicella Docg Classico 2011, Valpoli- cella Doc Classico Superiore 2014 and Valpo- licella “Ripasso” Doc Classico Superiore 2014. To con rm the dynamic character of this winery, a sparkling wine will be launched soon…
